View, CA (415) 960-7300 Lines: 21 What exactly are UPS monitoring cards and VAPs? I expect they are a means to detect a UPS has kicked in and perform an orderly shutdown, broadcast system warnings etc. How do they work? I am interested in performing an "orderly" system shutdown (is there such as beast :-) and system broadcast upon reception of a particular hardware generated signal from an external source (not a UPS) and think that this may be the way to achieve it. If I can fake the board/VAP/??? into triggering, then I have accomplished my goal. Could a generic monitor board/VAP be used for this? Can anyone give vendor names/#'s to contact further, or real life scenarios. Thanks in advance. -- Greg Widdicombe | Advanced Decision Systems | _--_|\ * Up from Down Under * | 1500 Plymouth Street, | / *\ | Mountain View.
