I wonder why the error messages are always held over and repeated
in the /usr/adm/SYSLOG file even though the process that
causes the error has exited long before.

For example, I did my backup on Jan-31, but the same error messages
still seen on Feb 3.

Feb  3 22:00:46 slic grcond[4643]: CIO: CSI tape #2 had 28 recoverable Errors
Feb  3 23:26:03 slic grcond[4643]: Child process /bin/news_server exited with status 0
Feb  3 23:26:04 slic grcond[7455]: In limbo
Feb  3 23:26:05 slic grcond[7455]: Alive
Feb  3 23:26:06 slic grcond[7455]: CIO: CSI tape #2 had 28 recoverable Errors


This held over message problem first seen after I have upgraded to 3.3.1.
It could be solved if I reboot the system, but I hope
there is a better way.
