AIX 1.2 DOES have a driver for the 3-com card, its just that it's not in the kernel as shipped, its in what's called the 'nifl' library. Look in the subdirectory /usr/nifl and you will find another directory 3com, I believe everything you need is there including instructions for installing it. Good luck.
