To clear up a few questions quickly,

1) All LAN Manager implementations, including HP's Lan Manager/X, SCO's
   LAN Manager for Unix, and Microsoft LAN Manager require the NetBios
   interface.

2) Given common transports all LAN Manager implementations interoperate
   from the desktop.  Microsoft does provide the NetBEUI transport with
   its OS/2-based product, as well as with LAN Manager for Unix (for 
   OEM's such as SCO and HP).  SCO will ship with NetBEUI.  HP's
   direction at this time is TCP/IP.
