I was finally able to re-generate the contents of my drawing window
whenever I received an exposure event.  I had to learn a bit more
about pixmaps and GC's, but I've got it done.  I was hoping that our
server had backing store, but since not all servers have, this would
not have been such a good thing after all.  

Now I've got to go back to the manuals and find a way of adding
accelerators to my menu options.  I've been able to add accelerators
to buttons but not to menus.
