My first substantial Motif effort needed a good way to layout a set of name/value pairs in aligned columns without the fonts having to be the same. I believe that it would be very helpful to programmers to have a sort of a cookbook containing various layouts and information on how to do them. The book would contain screen-shots of the layout in different shapes and sizes (where applicable), a description of the problem, the solution (including widget hierarchy and resources), and a discussion of any potential problems. If there's interest, I'd be glad to be a repository for the data (or I could try to convince Kee to volunteer ;-) to get this started.
