A friend to whom I pass Love-Hounds articles has this to say about
female singers...

| You might suggest for me that he give a listen to Maria McKee, former

| quite nice.  Also, if he's so inclined k.d. lang's Absolute Torch and

If you really want something different, try Caterwaul.  Very "crunchy"
(as Drukman would say) with unusual vocals.  Caterwaul is a good
description.  _Portent Hue_ is excellant, _Pin and Web_ is pretty
good.  I'm told their earlier efforts don't measure up.

Tanita Tikaram writes superb words and music but has a vocal talent
somewhere just shy of Warren Zevon.  Still, she works hard at it and I
enjoy her work a lot.
