Compaq has, in some cases, been a standards-setter in the (Intel) PC-based world; only recently has IBM been swinging back in technology. I find it MORE interesting that Compaq has, along with Sony, chosen to use MIPS chips, while Toshiba and CompuAdd have thrown in their hands with SPARC.
