Serv. Univerisity Lines: 17 As our organization *badly* needs a relational DBMS, we have been looking at various relational db systems, and will wind up getting RDB on our VAX, mostly due to monetary restrictions. I've heard rumors about RDB, mostly bad (one guy from Mc D. Douglas said that it loses tuples when a database is split across multiple files (!?). Whether that claim is true or not is another question!!!). In all fairness to DEC, I'm wondering just how true that is. In addition, we'd like to know if anyone who has experience with RDB has found any *gotchas* or other problems that we should be aware of before it comes on board. We're also going to try to use the INGRES tools with it (the ones DEC provides), and we're wondering if anyone has had any problems with that also. Gripes, complaints, beefs, and even praises are welcome. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- D.
