Thinking Machines still had us listed as an active site, and were trying to contact us with news. I didn't know where the log files for uucp *were* to look at them, and when they were pointed out, the dialin originator immediately became obvious. A phone call solved the problem (thanks, Bruce!) To those folks who thought it might be a cracker: it was pointed out to me that the "last" output I posted wouldn't have registered bad dialups, but only successful ones, so if it had been a cracker this guy was already *in* the system. This sort of problem, though, is one reason I would like to see the caller ID system in place.
