'cuse the previous posting; haven't yet figured out the emacs thingy on my mc.
the problem was that the autosaver capability of the emacs on my mc. saves the
filename to filename~ with the result deleting the filename~ in that directory
which contains different info.; is it possible to 

o remove the autosaver capability
o autosave to the filename itself
o autosave to some-other-filename
