Keywords: compression Message-ID: <1991Feb15.132238.13345@ericsson.se> Date: 15 Feb 91 13:22:38 GMT Sender: etxtomp@eos.ericsson.se Organization: Ericsson Telecom AB Lines: 19 I'm looking for compression routines for scanned B/W images. The compression/decompression should be fairly fast. They are to be included in a C program, so C code would be nice. The images are of two kinds: * Handwritten text with maybe a sketch. Could be compressed be a "lossy" algorithm, since the image quality isn't too critical. Perhaps an intelligent way of vectorizing the pixel data could be applied (the compression factor is important). * Pictures from an electronic microscope, I beleive no loss in image quality could be accepted. There is a need to crypt the data, so a routine for that , which could be incorporated would be fine... Tommy Petersson etxtomp@eos.ericsson.se or tope@enea.se
