Actually...we have been tinkering with the idea of writing self-contained X
widgets and code resources for calling by Perl in order to do just that.
For example, one such resource would be a full-configurable dialog box that
can be called from either the command line or via perl.  Other ideas include
a text edit windoid, thermometers, and standard file dialogs.

On the Holy Quest to make Unix more usable....
