Lines: 27 Greetings everyone, I am in sort of a strange situation - I ordered 'Operating Systems - Design and Implementation' from my campus bookstore last week. I was initially under the impression that you had to have something (ie a proof of purchase) out of the book before you could order the minix distribution diskettes. Well, I called Prentice Hall last week and spoke to a nice lady in the software department and found out that I could order the disks over the phone, which I did. I received the disks today, and (of course) am anxious to get started. My campus bookstore says 2 to 6 weeks to get my book. Now, my question: Is there any way I can get started without the book? Or is the setup procedure too complicated to even attempt without the documentation? I was able to boot to the point of "Welcome to MINIX. login: ". Any help and/or suggestions will be very much appreciated. I doubt this is of general interest to justify posting to the net (since you all have MINIX going already :-) ) so please respond via email. Thanks again.
