As the front-end of an Evans and Sutherland Image Generator computer we are
getting a 5-6 year old Gould 32/67 series realtime computer.  I have been told
that this machine has severe, recurring disk problems that make it necessary
to reformat the system disk approximately once per month.  What I would like
to do is replace the disk drives that are now on the machine with more reliable
disk drives.  The problem is that I have no idea what type of disk interface
this machine uses, nor what disks this machine supports.  I believe that the
disks that come with it are 80MB and 300MB Gould drives on a Univeral Disk
Processor controller.  I have a raft of documentation (that arrived all of last
Monday) for the Gould but it has never been unpacked and put in binders.  I
expect the computer to arrive on Monday for installation.  E&S's short-term
solution is to ship the system with a 300MB removable disk drive which due to
space problems we would like to avoid as a long-term solution.  Since we would
like to have a demonstration capability on the IG computer in three weeks, it
is imperative that I find out quickly how to resolve the disk issue for the
long-term.

Does anyone have any clues as to what disk drives might work with this machine?
Does Encore sell drives for the older Gould machines (I have a call into them,
but no response so far) that have better reliability?
