I've seen two methods of getting data to a postscript printers.

1) you delivery, en toto, a complete postscript file to the 
   device, and it prints out for you.

2) the computer starts a process that talks to the printer,
   waits for certain responses, etc.. that eventually, and
   quite magically for me at this point, results in a printout.

Since I'm obviously only beginning to learn this stuff, I'm
looking for some sort of documentation for the the protocol
used to talk over rs232c connections to postscript printers.
