Because of all the people who *truly* misunderstand the GPL, to the point
where they're convinced that the bug in /etc/movemail (rms can call it
whatever he wants, in a real world system which *needs* security it's a bug)
is in fact a mechanism to deliberately evade security on systems which have
Emacs installed to further his goals.  (Yes, I've met such idiots.)  And to
the point where they're convinced that the intent of the GPL is to force
anything and everything it touches to immediately become free, regardless.
(I've met these too.)
