     A fellow in Puerto Rico told me about this bug, too.  The way to not have
your stats drop when you get rig of rings etc. is to be using them (and getting
the point benefit from them) when you dump/sell them.  That way, the only pointsthat you lose are the ones you got from the item in the first place.
