He will be lucky to find one for $1000. Then he will have to figure out what to do with it. There are no boards for the 1000 or any other Amiga that use the 68040 (yet). In addition, the 68040 does not need a floating point chip (68882). It has a floating point unit built in. I think your friend wants a 68020 (my guess).
