I had this problem until I merged the Dec and Apollo passwd files. I 
imported the password from the Dec and ran /etc/import_passwd favoring
the Dec system. I then ran /etc/syncids to reset any uid's that may have
been changed. I am now able to mount the Apollos to the DEC's and Sun's 
and vice versa.
