When running dxpsview on my DECstation 5000 with an Xtm2d server, it
bombs with:

X Protocol error detected by server:  BadAlloc - insufficient resources
  Failed request major op code 53 (X_CreatePixmap)
  Failed request minor op code 0 (if applicable)
  ResourceID 0xe0005c in failed request (if applicable)
  Serial number of failed request 669
  Current serial number in output stream 670

Is this a known bug?  Is there a workaround?
