Everyone I >know around here got one with theirs... > It probably did. However the one that comes with the cable wouldn't work since its wired straight through. When wiring a cable to talk to a modem the send and receive lines are swapped. The connector that comes with the cable is for connection between terminals and is what is known as a null modem connector I believe. By the way don't take this as the word of GOD.
