Even the 16-bit ones do. No. This is not true. However all VGA cards will operate in 8-bit mode ALL THE TIME if they are installed in a system with an 8-bit MDA board. This puts about a 32% drain in display performance on my system. I just spent a day searching around a computer fair for an MDA with a 16-bit interface. No luck though. I think I may give up.
