Thanks! Message-ID: <2232.27b6b41c@idx.com> Date: 11 Feb 91 15:11:23 GMT Organization: IDX Corporation, S. Burlington, VT Lines: 34 -- Hi All.... I have acquired a PRIAM V185 disk drive for my PC/AT clone.. However, no docs came with it. I understand it to be a 7 head, 1166 cyl drive. Can someone verify this for me, and tell me the meanings of the dip switch settings on the logic board? I am having troubles with it in that OPTUNE and CORETEST refuse to recognize the drive, while several other drives I have (CDC, Seagate) work fine with this software. I have tried this on two different machines with different controllers and cables. I am attempting to run it MFM. I understand that this drive is RLL capable. Due to my AT BIOS restrictions, I am running this as a 1024 x 7 drive.. I am not sure what the precomp at this setting is... Would that be critical?? I have no idea of what the drive requires.... The drive came with its rails reversed, so I was thinking it may have come from a workstation and may have been set up for RLL format.. Most other software works fine with it (DOS 3.3) and I do seem to get an occasional reset and retry.. but nothing that ever shows up on my screen... HDTEST seems to work ok.. Most of OPTUNE works fine, until I attempt to test the interleave factors on my disk... then it says the disk is "unavailable"... WELL!.. (Polite manner of saying that it sh** the bed?) Thanks... since the drive in still on warranty from a refurbrisher, I want to make sure it is ok before that 90 days runs out! Any help is greatly appreciated!
