I have same problem :-) but I think I know where the problem is in my case.
Unix people did change the zmodem software in unix box and ZTerm does not
transfer files any more. With MS-DOS zmodem software unix zmodem software
works fine. They say that ZTerm is out of date, does not know the new 
zmodem features (?). 

Are there other Zmodem emulators (free/SW/Comm) for Mac?
