I'm assuming you've made the jump and are trying to navigate the wormhole. Given that, try and make the run at a speed of 10-15, at least with the basic ship. Keep the cursor (if I remember the game right) nudging the inside of any curve of the wormhole. (I assume you're navigating with the mouse.) If this doesn't help, try FTPing a copy of SpeedChopper or Sludge from 36.44.0.6 (the Sumex archives.) This will let you slow your machine down.
