No compiler can isolate the programmer from what is considered complicated about the Mac ROM calls (they are called just like any other procedure and in fact parts of the Toolbox are in RAM, not ROM; the difference is largely transparent to the programmer.) The only thing complicated about the Toolbox is that it is large which puts a burden on the programmer to know a lot going in.
