Run, don't walk, to your nearest book store (or library) and pick up a copy of the Macintosh Programming Primer (get volume 2 also if you can afford it). These books are very good intoductions into how to program the Mac, and they are targeted for Think C. Another source is the series in MacUser for the past year called "Power Programming". You library should have this. The source code from the MacUser series is available by FTP, check sumex. On final hint is to pick up a copy of the USENET Mac Programming paper that was put togather about a year ago.
