A brilliant light showed up on Internet this morning, i.e. ref. 11903@pt.cs.cmu.edu in that the provided csh is not an ordinary csh, but a CMU-csh. I had been wondering just why my set commands said editmode dumb without any clues as to what was dumb! I suppose mostly me......*-)...... At ant rate I have now fixed .login with a: set editmode=emacs and all is brilliant especially when terminating remotely from home Thanks to our Internet friends at CMU I can now enjoy the beauty of CMU-csh
