Message-ID: <9102121703.AA00434@.nairobi.inel.gov.inel.gov.> Date: 12 Feb 91 17:03:52 GMT Sender: daemon@ucbvax.BERKELEY.EDU Lines: 40 Howdy! Very often I get a message like this when I run tex or latex: This is TeX, C Version 2.98 (no format preloaded) (gentle_intro.tex ! Font \brm=cmr10 scaled 1200 not loadable: Metric (TFM) file not found. \relax l.61 \else \font\brm=cmr10 scaled \magstep1 \fi ? If I answer with the help command, I get this: I wasn't able to read the size data for this font, so I will ignore the font specification. [Wizards can fix TFM files using TFtoPL/PLtoTF.] You might try inserting a different font spec; e.g., type `I\font='. ? Since I'm not a wizard at tex or latex, I simply have it enter batch mode and live with the results. Could someone please tell me how to prevent this from happening in the future? Is there a simple way to create these TFM files without having to become an expert? Thank you! Rick -- Rick Morneau Idaho National Engineering Laboratory mnu@nairobi.inel.gov Idaho Falls, Idaho 83415
