Apparently our map for user home directories was too large for it (~920 entries). Since the machine is restricted access w/ approx 5 valid users, feeding automount a map with just those users appears to have cleared up the problem. Previously, it would choke and crash with a Segmentation Violation after a couple of mounts and unmounts. Whether this problem would occur with a YP map is unknown. Our YP map has a mount option that the AIX mounter doesn't like and we aren't ready to remove. Provided I have not been real lucky, and the automounter can stay up for a few more days, I'm going to have this reported as a "defect" in the automounter. If we had one of these machines for general use, this would be a big headache for us. Doug. ----- Douglas Lee Schales schales@cs.tamu.edu Texas A&M University Dept. of Computer Science
