What it came down to was our sys admin cleans up our SunOS kernals and changes: pseudo-device dtop4 # desktops (screens), allow 4 to: pseudo-device dtop1 # desktops (screens), allow 4 Under 4.0.3 this seemingly had no effect, but under 4.1.1 it does prevent X11 from creating a new desktop running concurrently with Sunview.
