Recall the ad for RBS70 "... 2000 balls, of which on the average two is needed to incapacitate a pilot..."? But, on modern aircraft the pilot doesn't (always) have to pull the ejection handle: He/she is ejected automatically when the aircraft suffers certain types of structural damage. Many years ago I spoke to a Viggen pilot, who lost a wing, which smashed into the fin, during ACM. He was ejected even before he noticed anything wrong with the plane. _________________ +---------------------+ \ Disclaimer: /Urban Fredriksson\ |"There is always an | / \ I do NOT, and am not \ Nokia Data AB / | alternative nobody | / \ allowed to, speak for \ Stockholm / | has thought of." |/ \__ my employer! _______\___Sweden____/__ +---------------------+ \ C=se;ADMD=tede;PRMD=nokia;O=nokia data;S=fredriksson;G=urban / \___ fredriksson_urban_nok%smail@tuura.yj.data.nokia.fi ___/
