I don't have any definite facts, but I doubt the F-14 saw any combat in Vietnam. I know the A-6 had been deployed in the mid 60's. I remember pictures of A-6s being escorted by F-4s and I think F-8. The F-14 on the other hand wasn't deployed until 1972 or later. It was the results of taking the few good aspects of F-111B (Navy TFX) and the F-4 Vietnam experience. I don't think Grumman started engineering the F-14 until 1968. (Why did the A-12 project seem to have all the stench of the TFX to me? Its like deja vu all over again.(Quote by Yogi Berra)) So in total its possible that F-14s may have been around during the evacuation of Saigon in 1975, but I really doubt that it saw combat action with A-6's. -- ==================================================================== Bob Turner Network Manager, School of Engineering 513-229-3171 turner@udecc.engr.udayton.edu Univ. of Dayton, Engineering Computing Center-KL211, Dayton OH 45469
