After transferring down to the PC (using binary mode in Kermit), the compressed file will uncompress (usually!). However, tar starts complaining about the resulting file not looking like a tar archive and hangs the PC. What am I doing wrong? I'm using the tar program written by Mark Colburn (circa Feb 1990) and compress is of similar vintage (can't remember exact source, but I got it from Simtel). Any help would be appreciated. Joe.
