Telecom readers might be interested to know that the US Coast Pilot (sort of the offical government AAA guide for mariners) has a note in it for New York Harbor that underwater cables abound, and that AT&T will gladly compensate the owner of any ship who's captain cuts away his anchor rather than trying to pull it up if he suspects he has snagged a cable.
