    Hello 

    Does any body out there know a way of avoiding vi inserting
    tabs when using the autoindent feature?.

    Up to now I use to set the tabstop to 180, and then use 
    and  to indent the text. With this method vi inserts white
    space characters insted of tabs. But I am having some
    problems with it when using it on SPARC machines.
