GRAFWKxx can convert .GIF to .BMP but only 16 colors. I have used VPICxx to view the .GIF upto 256 colors and use the 'Z' option to convert to Zsoft's .PCX format. Windows 3.0 paint program can read the .PCX files and convert to .BMP for great 256 colors backgrounds.
