MS-DOS development has been done by folks other than Larry Wall and has been distributed by him. I did the last round of enhancements. The big problem with the DOS version right now is lack of memory. Adding features that support only a few users will use even more memory. I was working on a custom overlay scheme but I'm too busy right now to do anything on it. Sockets are at least second in priority: surely dbm is first. Larry hasn't released my perl source code yet.
