Here is a summery of what I have found. I was unable to login using the serial port to minix, I found a bug in kernel/rs232.c, once this was fixed login worked fine. Thus you CAN login to minix via a modem, now going from minix I have not had much luck. Kermit allowed me to dial out for about 5 minutes then died. The login sessions never had any trouble, but did cause a message to come to the console some of the time. The message indicated that the PBControl call failed in rs232.c Now I tried at length to fix this but was unable to, it just seems there is a very odd bug in the rs232 code. The bug I fixed was that the speed was getting trashed by all calls after the first to ioctl, the encoding of the speed on one of the return statements was wrong. I can repost the fix if people want it. Also a patch was posted for the screen too low problem for the 9inch macs. The last time I ran multifinder, after making the lastest version of the mods to the kernel startup routines, everything ran fine for about five or more minutes. I logout before it died, but would like to ask people with a beta version of system 7 to give it a try. We might need to get all these bugs out of multifinder compatibility quickly so that minix will run under sys 7.0 which I think always runs in a multifinder type setup. -- Canada Remote Systems.
