At least ISO 2593-1984 punts on threads. There are three different thread sizes used: 6-32 single start, 6-32 dual start, and some metric size (M4?). Heck, differnt vendors can't even agree which screw is male and which is female! Then, there are the Swiss using 1 mm pins insated of 1.6 mm pins... At least every "M34" connector I've seen in the US had 6-32 single start threads. I've had to swap male and female screws on a lot of cables, however. ISO 2110 calls out no threads. They admit it to be a local matter. RS-232 doesn't even specify a connector! ISO 4902 (37/9 pin) and ISO 4903 (15 pin) call out a M3 thread on the latching blocks. (So does RS-449, to my surprise.) Of course, every US manufacturer uses 4-40, just like they do on RS-232. (It may be that 4-40 and M3 are one of the almost compatible threads betweeen the two families, but I doubt it.)
