Several people have already responded, suggesting that the SunOS sh dies
because the ENVIRONMENT is too large. Unsetting as many variables as
possible before starting the make will supposedly do the trick.

I have forwarded this suggestion on to the lucky guy who gets to do the
rebuilding.
