Help! ]] I don't know what editor you're referring to. The address you give resembles the one recommended at the end of the Introduction to IEEE Std 1003.1-1990 for the IEEE/CS Standards Status Report, which lists all current IEEE/CS standards projects: IEEE Computer Society 1730 Massachusetts Avenue NW Washington DC 20036-1903 Fax: +1 (202) 728-9614 That Introduction indicates that those interested in participating in TCOS working groups should send their name, address, and telephone number to Secretary IEEE Standards Board Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. P.O. Box 1331 445 Hoes Lane Piscataway, NJ 08855-1331 and should ask that their message be forwarded to the chair of the specific group they're interested in. You don't have to join a balloting group to get mailings, nor to attend Working Group meetings. Descriptions of every TCOS group, with chairs, may be found in: Smith, Susanne W., and Quarterman, John S., ``Open Systems Standards Resource Guide,'' UNIX Technology Advisor, vol. 2, no. 8, pp. 12-15, MYOB, Hollis, NH, August 1990. Similar information appears in the postings that the same two authors sometimes make to USENET, and in a printed calendar. Those postings will probably reappear when we get sufficient time from working on other (paying) projects. The simple answer that I usually give is to contact the TCOS-SS chair, Jim Isaak , and let him distribute to the appropriate committee chair. He hasn't complained yet. :-) -- John S.
