PAL A1000 Multi-serial Message-ID: Date: 18 Feb 91 13:44:31 GMT Lines: 33 I've built the two-port version of the multi-I/O board in the Feb. Amazing computing. When I try to boot with it installed, DF0: runs erraticaly, flashes its LED on and off, double-steps, chatters, etc. In the directions to the board, it says if this happens, I need the A1000 PAL grounding mod. Could someone please mail me the modification? I'd really like to get this sucker up and running... The I/O board is easy to build; the hard part is the carpentry to fit it into your Amiga. The instructions are not too terribly clear on how to fit it in. For the daughterboard containing the Maxim RS-232 interface chips, I found that the holes drilled in it lined up perfectly with the holes in the motherboard for the Disk drive and serial port on the back of the A1000. I used some standoffs and supported the back of the board by glueing some plastic underneath it to insulate it, and allowing it to rest on the small metal RF shield on the motherboard. It's really robust, and allows you to plug cables in and out without breaking anything: View from back of Amiga: Serial daughterboard --[======]--[======]-- | <- standoffs -> | | | --[=====]---[======]---- disk & serial ports on motherboard Thanks in advance... -- ben@epmooch.UUCP ben%servalan.UUCP@uokmax.ecn.uoknor.edu {chinet, uokmax}!servalan!epmooch!ben (Ben Mesander)
