should have also mentioned how to fix it once it happens!  simply press and
release each modifier key on the keyboard once (ctrl, l shift, l alt, l amiga,
r amiga, r alt, r shift).  that'll unstick and stuck keys (they're not
physically stuck, just mentally :)
