It was talking about a compression retrieval "device". He was talking about a VAX command to retrieve files from a compressed tape. And asked about this on amiga....Well It already exists...:) let me explain.. Just use CSHELL 4.0 and make an alias... alias store "zoo -add dh0:compress" alias retrieve "zoo -ex dh0:compress" Then when you want to store a file.. store diskx Boom..it puts it in the compressed file. You could even expand this by making a small .sh to do it and delete the original file after storing. that accomplishes what was described in the letter I was replying to. As for the compression device....I made a compression filter under unix haha, but it wasn't of much use. The device would probably prove the same unless it had hardware compression of some sort.
