I've heard this too.  Seems like the Apollo track balls are Logitech quadrature
style devices.  In which case, ...

... you'll need an HP-HIL Quadrature Port, 46094A.  I don't know if there's
any support for this in Domain/OS.  I suspect HP-HIL is still HP-UX, HP BASIC,
HP Pascal OSs only.
