Would imagine that one could socket the board and then get the chip numbers from another board and have a coprocessor board. They were marked 'Korea,'; but I don't recall if I could make out any manufacturers name. I was very careful about bent pins when installing them, and I tried installing just one bank (9 chips), substituting various of these 256K chips, but NO WAY could I make them work. Either they were all bad, or there's some incompatibility problem. This was a bow 100B. I exchanged them for 150 ns chips and had no problem. However, under Windows I can produce graphics output that the RB just can't do otherwise. Excel works well, as do the desktop applications (Paint, Write, etc). So far the only glitch is the "calculator" - not an issue for me. In terms of speed, I prefer to do my heavy number cunching in 1-2-3, and then convert over to an Excel format only when I'm ready to produce finished graphs.
