IBM PS230/286 2. IBM PS230 On the 30-286, we get (with Fastback+) Error Code 29 during backup (meaning a corrupt disk). This happens on brand-new, freshly formatted disks which make it through Norton Disk Doctor. During restore (again with FB+) we get a message (don't recall the number) that says "Unrecoverable Error". With Norton Backup (on the 30-286) we never make it through the confidence test of the Install program. All these problems relate to the internal 3.5" 1.44Mb drive, which makes it through the IBM Setup self-test with no problems. We have also tested that drive with repeated reads, writes, & compares, again with no difficulty. Last (on the 286) with FB+, if the disk which had just passed Norton Disk Doctor is re-run through NDD, after the failed backup attempt, an unrecognizable character is found in the boot record. On the old PS2/30 (not a 286), we're having problems with restore: I back up various files, & when I restore, I get "Unknown Record Type Encountered". I'm (obviously) using the same version of FB+ on both machines. Any suggestions? Thanks... Rocky
