Message-ID: <1991Feb21.125450.83@csc.canterbury.ac.nz> Date: 21 Feb 91 00:58:02 GMT Lines: 25 I seem to remember this beiing asked before, but a check of Raymond's excellent FAQ list didn't shed any light on the issue, so I'm posting. A visiting lecturer from Japan has a portable PC that has a 3.5" drive which appears to format, read & write 1.2M floppies (yes, 1.2 Meg 3.5" disks) *AND* it cannot understand any other formats. He wants to get stuff off the hard disk for us, and put some local files onto the HD. The machine has a com port, but there is no apparent equivalent to the MODE and CTTY commands, so we can't upload LapLink or similar to effect the file transfers. Is there a device driver or utility program that can muck around with one of our HD 3.5" disk-drives to allow it to read (and write?) floppies from the portable?? (We know about the Central Point Software card that allows these sorts of things, but that is a fairly expensive option for just transferring a few files.) Many thanks for your time, and the replies I hope to receive, Nick. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nick FitzGerald, PC Applications Consultant, CSC, Uni of Canterbury, N.Z.
